About THE GOOK LOVER

THE GOOK LOVER is a pro-Japanese, pro-Asian, but anti-Imperial Japan novel. It is the story of Tomi Tomigawa, a young Japanese officer disillusioned during the 1937 Rape of Nanking and how his adventures during six tumultuous decades transformed him. He knows it’s a hollow victory when the world eventually hails him as the "Henry Ford of modern Japan.”

Tomi was made a war hero for propaganda purposes. He played a key role in Japan’s horrific medical experiments on prisoners, spied at Pearl Harbor and committed war crimes. In his scramble from latrine orderly for the Yankee occupiers to black market hustler, he lied, cheated and stole to survive. Worse, he sacrificed his closest friends and himself to build the world’s largest car company.

He only accomplished the first two thirds of the ancient Chinese motto: “Think. Organize. Do Good.” As an elderly billionaire without a family, he knew the dumbest lie of all is that he who dies with the most toys, wins.

Then a casual glance in a Manhattan book store window changes his life and possibly, that of Japan's future.
